$1.78 began in 2000 in North Vernon, Indiana.
Long-time friends and co-workers Oshu Huddleston and Stevie Saylor began recording some improv, acoustic songs in a home-built studio. In the course of two months they recorded over twenty songs, but released an untitled demo cd with only thirteen of them.

The demo CD was wildly popular locally, so they returned to the studio to record some more songs.
They released their first cd, The Late Night Sessions, by their own hand. Sales were only local, but word spread.
They added their band to [www.download.com] in the music section, and the band was #1 in comedy rock in no time.

Online success led the band to record more songs, but only one song was completed in 2004.
The song, "It's Over", was included on a rerelease CD of ALL of their recorded material. The cd was titled WRONG , and was sold locally in southern Indiana.

As of June 2008, the band is still in contact, but no plans are underway to continue production of a new album.
