'Sgudi 'Snaysi (anglicism for English phrase "it's good, it's nice") is a long-running South African Zulu language television comedy series. 78 hour-long episodes were made by Penguin Films and broadcast from 1986 on SABC in South Africa; it was also shown in Zimbabwe and Swaziland. The series starred Daphne Hlomuka as Sis' May, a middle-aged woman living in Soweto; Gloria Mudau as Louise, Sis' May's neighbour; Thembi Mtshali as Thoko, Sis' May's niece; and Joe Mafela as S'dumo an unemployed man who comes to lodge with 'Sis May.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s 'Sgudi 'Snaysi' consistently achieved SABC's highest viewing figures, becoming the most popular television series in South Africa [1]. In 2002 the series' producer, Roberta Durrant, served as president of the sitcom jury of the 42nd Rose d'Or Festival in Montreux, Switzerland.
