Á, á (a-acute) is a letter of the Czech, Faroese, Hungarian, Icelandic, and Slovak languages. This letter also appears in Irish, Occitan, Portuguese, Spanish, Lakota, and Vietnamese as a variant of the letter “a”.

Usage in various languages

Chinese

In Chinese pinyin á is the yángpíng tone (阳平, high-rising tone) of “a”.

Czech, Hungarian, and Kiena

Á is the 2nd letter of the Hungarian, Czech, and Kiena and represents /aː/.

Faroese

Á is the 2nd letter of the Faroese alphabet and represents /ɔ/ or /ɔaː/.

Icelandic

Á is the 2nd letter of the Icelandic alphabet and represents /au̯/ (as in "ow").

Vietnamese

In the Vietnamese alphabet, á is the sắc tone (high-rising tone) of “a”.

A is the first letter of the English alphabet. a is a usual symbol for a low central vowel, as in "father"; the English long a (ā) is pronounced as a diphthong of ĕ and y. The corresponding letter of the Greek alphabet is named alpha. Alpha and omega, the last letter of the Greek alphabet, symbolize the beginning and the end.
