1127 (Kendal) Squadron is an
Air Training
Corps squadron based in
Kendal,
Cumbria,
England.
It is an average sized squadron with around 30 cadets and 8
adult members of staff. The Squadron's staff are all volunteers
with civilian jobs. The Squadron currently has two Commissioned
officers, one Adult Sergeant, six Civilian Instructors and a
Squadron Padre. The staff are assisted in running the squadron by
the Civilian Committee.
Activities
As the
squadron is part of the Air Training Corps they take part in all
the Air Cadet activities such as flying, gliding, drill, sports,
shooting, Annual camps and The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme (to
name but a few). The squadron also participates in the community
with charity bag-packs at nearby supermarkets as well as taking
part in Remembrance Day Parades.
A typical parade
night
On a typical parade night (either Tuesday or Thursday),
the evening at 19.00 (7pm), and finishes at 21.30 (9.30pm). It is
required for all cadets to attend both week's parade nights. A
parade night starts with first parade, where some drill will be
done and the flag raised. After this there is a first activity
half, (an activity chosen usually from one of the above, but there
are others) followed by a 15 minute break, and then the second
activity half. The parade night finishes at 9.30, after taking the
flag down and notices have been read out, when the Squadron
Commander dismisses the parade.

Squadron is one of 26 ATC squadrons in Cumbria and North Lancashire
Wing, North Region. Since it is centrally based within the Wing, it
often holds training events and meetings.
