1349 (Woking) Squadron ATC (
Air Training Corps) is the local
Air Cadet squadron in
Woking,
Surrey.
It is led by (VTR)
Flight Lieutenant Alan Talbot, Mark Siggers, Adult Sergeant Ben White and a team of committed Civilian Instructors.
The
Squadron takes part in major parades such as the
Battle of Britain Memorial Parade and
Rememberance Sunday.
It also takes part in various activities near
Woking.
These activities include Wing Shoots,
flying details and
gliding details.
Parade nights are on Mondays and Thursdays, between 19.15 and 21.45.
During the summer, Thursdays are usually spent in the field at Pirbright Army Barracks, in the training areas.
They are very lucky as they get to go out more often then other squadrons, because they are so closer than others.
The cadets often enjoy many inter-wing and corps events including Napier, an annual camp in the John Napier Barracks, Folkestone.
Where the cadets do adventure training, fire the
L98A1 rifle, take part in a wide variety of rare and exciting oppurtunites and round everything off with a 2 day exercise with an interesting twist.
(E.g.
Napier 2006, while attacking a farm house cadets hear gun shots and have to quickly rush to help their fallen comrades).
The
Squadron holds sports events and the cadets have flying opportunities through out the year.
The squadron had a 25 metre rifle range and is the only squadron in the world to have a working
Link Trainer.
The squadron is currently recruting and is located at-
Woking ATC
Westfield Avenue,
Woking,
Surrey.
