The 15th Lancers was a regular regiment in the British Indian Army it was formed from the amalgamation of the 17th Cavalry and the 37th Lancers (Baluch Horse) in 1922.

17th Cavalry

The 17th Cavalary saw service in the Second Afghan War and the Great War where they were part of the Indian Expoditonary Force B for the East African Campaign after the Great War on their return to India they were involved in the Third Afghan War.

37th Lancers (Baluch Horse)

The 37th Lancers (Baluch Horse) During the Great War the remained in India stationed at the Ambala Cantonment in the Lahore Divisional area. They were also involved in the Third Afghan War.

Amalgamation

The two regiments were amalgamated during the re organisation of the Indian Cavalry Corps in 1922. They were given the title the 15th Lancerss and made a depot regiment and disbanded in January 1937.
