16 Million Reserve is a product created by
Blair Lazar,
consisting of pure
capsaicin crystals, and is the hottest food additive in
existence.
The name 16 Million Reserve comes from the product's
rating on the
Scoville Scale-- the crystals rate 16,000,000
Scoville Units. In contrast, the
Red Savina, the hottest pepper in the world,
rates anywhere from 300,000 to 1,000,000 Scoville Units
[1321], and police grade
pepper spray rates in the
5,300,000 Scoville range.
16 Million Reserve is packaged in a
small, sealed pharmaceutical vial. The vial is then placed a glass
jar, which is sealed with
wax,
and topped with a stopper that resembles a
skull. Customers must sign a legal waiver before
they may purchase the item. Customers are also warned to use
protective gloves and goggles while handling the product, as
capsaicin will cause extreme skin irritation and extremely painful
eye injuries.
While advertisements claim that the product is
only for collectors and not to be consumed, the actual waiver
signed by consumers and the warning label on the vial of 16 Million
Reserve itself claims that even though it is not a
sauce and is incredibly intense, 16
Million Reserve is a food additive and may be used very, very
sparingly.
