The 1928 Pittsburgh Pirates season was the 47th season in franchise history. During the season, Burleigh Grimes became the last pitcher to win at least 25 games in one season for the Pirates in the 20th century.[1]

The team scored the most runs in the National League. However, they also allowed the third most and slipped down to fourth place in the standings.
