Index: Races | Winners

The 1953 24 Hours of Le Mans was the 21st Grand Prix of Endurance, and took place on June 13 and 14 1953. It was also the third round of the World Sportscar Championship.

The highlight of this race is the introduction, by Jaguar Cars, of disc brakes on all four wheels of each car, which gave Jaguar 1st, 2nd, and 4th place finishes. (Third place was taken by Briggs Cunningham.

This race saw the death of American driver Tom Cole Jr. when his Ferrari was involved in an accident late in the race.
