The 1979 NBA Draft produced some of the best names in NBA history, including Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Bill Cartwright, Sidney Moncrief and former Detroit Shock head coach Bill Laimbeer, who led the Shock to three WNBA Championships (2003, 2006, and 2008). Johnson, Laimbeer and Cartwright would go on from there to win ten NBA Championships combined.
