The 1992 Big Bear earthquake was an earthquake that occurred at 08:05 PDT local time (15:05 UTC) on 28 June 1992 in Big Bear Lake, California, with a magnitude of 6.5. This earthquake occurred three hours after the 7.3 magnitude Landers earthquake, which was centered 22 miles (35 km) to the east. The closely-timed occurrence of these earthquakes is an often-cited example of a regional earthquake sequence.[1]
