Notes

  • First pole position: Rubens Barrichello and Jordan
  • In the light of the death of Ayrton Senna , a tyre chicane was installed at Eau Rouge to slow the cars.Heinz Harald Frentzen spun there while attempting to pass Rubens Barrichello early in the race , Barrichello's Jordan struggling to keep track position amongst clearly faster cars coming through having started on pole position.
  • Michael Schumacher was stripped of his win in this race due to excessive wear on his Benetton's skid. block[1] - this would indicate the car's ride height was too low and hence he had an illegal aerodynamic advantage. The Benetton team's claim that it was due to Schumacher making a full spin on top of the curbs on lap 19 was rejected by the Stewards because of the wear pattern.
  • Last race: Philippe Alliot
  • First race: Philippe Adams
