The 2006 World Weightlifting Championships were held at the Handball Pavilion and Weightlifting Pavilion Dr. José Joaquín Puello in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The event took place from September 30 to October 7, 2006.[1]

  2. ^ a b c Ilin, Kolecki and Konstantinov all lifted the same weight. Ilin's body weight of 93.26 kg earned him the gold in front of Kolecki (93.61) and Konstantinov (93.77). Ilin tried to break the World record in his two remaining lifts, but did not succeed.
  3. ^ a b Aree and Miyake both had a total of 188 kg, however Aree's weight was 47.52 kg at the time while Miyake's weight was 47.63, resulting in a higher position for the athlete with the less heavy weight. Svetlana Ulyanova of Russia also had a total of 188 kg, but her weight of 47.73 kg avoided her of winning a medal.
  4. ^ a b Jang and Mu both lifted 314 kg. As Jang's body weight was 113.52 kg she became world champion, Mu's weight was 130.91 kg.
