The 2009 Barack Obama trip to Scandinavia was a notable trip to Norway and Denmark by President Barack Obama in which he collected his Nobel Peace Prize and spoke at the climate conference in Denmark. Obama was the first U.S. president to win the prize while he was still in office. He won because of hope because the cut off for nominations was less than 2 weeks after he began office, too soon to create peace.
He met with the King in the morning then had some time in the hotel before addressing the Nobel commission in the evening.
Obama then went to Denmark. United Nations Climate Change Conference is taking place at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, Denmark, between 7 December and 18 December 2009. The conference includes the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP 15) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the 5th Meeting of the Parties (COP/MOP 5) to the Kyoto Protocol. While there Obama promised to cut pollution. The third world wanted $100 billion to help cut pollution but the developed world, including Obama, refused to pay this amount of money, suggesting $10 billion, instead.
