The 2018 Summer Youth Olympics (officially known as III Summer Youth Olympic Games) will be the third in a series of Youth Olympic Games, a major international sports and cultural festival to be celebrated in the tradition of the Summer Olympic Games, in summer 2018, during the XXXI Olympiad.
The French NOC decided not to bid for the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics, instead pursuing the 2018 Winter Olympics. If their candidate Annecy loses that bid, Toulouse has expressed interest in bidding again for the Youth edition. [1]
Rouen showed interest to host the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics but ultimately did not bid.
The Philippine Government expressed its intention to bid for the games.If successful, the 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines is expected to open the Games. The country already hosted regional multi-sport events such as the Asian Games and the SEA Games.
Jose Antonio Hernandez Griego, Chairman of the youth group that ran the city for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, said the team meets again to bid for the 2018 edition [2] [3]
Moscow submitted its bid to host the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics but was defeated by Singapore by a postal vote of 53-44.The Russian city hosted the 1980 Summer Olympics.
Poznań bid for the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics but lost out to Nanjing.
The city of Toronto bid to host the 2008 Summer Olympics but lost to Beijing, China. They are hosting the 2015 Pan American Games.[4]
