2104 is a
satirical novel by about President
George W. Bush and specifically his infamous
war on
terror.
Plot
The story centers around
Zstyom
Iayozs, who is a member of a secret underground group which
opposes
President-King
George U. U. Tree the Third,
the corrupt ruler of the "
Eunited States" (a merger of America and
Europe, in other words, the opposite of the
American
Revolution). Things are going pretty badly as it is, but when
the army of
Ireq (the also
recently-merged Middle Eastern countries) begins to invade, things
really begin to get bad.
Iayozs, however, has realized that both
they and the supposed enemies are opposed to the tyrannical and
incompetent rule of Tree, and soon enough they have united to fight
against the Eunited States. However, they are soon captured, and
sentenced to
execution by
atomic dissolution – a
nasty process by which every single
atom in the victim's body is separated, one by one,
until the entire body is gone. By a twist of dumb luck, Iayozs
manages to escape, however, so that he can free the rest of them as
well.
Because of what's happened, the Ireqis soon decide that
they no longer want to have
any Americans with them, so
Iayozs and company are kicked out as
traitors. With nowhere else to go, they are forced
to leave the city and head out towards the neighboring
town.
That night, Iayozs is having trouble getting to sleep, and
has a lot of strange
dreams.
To make matters worse, the next morning, the Ireqis break in to the
hotel they are staying in and kill one of their friends. Iayozs
runs away from this whole thing, and suddenly finds himself in a
strange colorless void where the only other thing in sight is a
strange woman who talks in riddles.
Iayozs is informed that he
has somehow broken the
speed of light and
travelled through time. He is then given
the chance to go back into the past, when everything began, and
solve everything once and for all.
The book ends with the
Eunited States holding free
elections, directly poking fun at the
Bush vs. Kerry campaign of
2005.
Publication
Ultima says that he originally planned
to have the book published normally – in other words,
printed and bound and sold in stores – but decided
instead to release it for free so that he could spread the message
to the entire world, somewhat like
Dan Brown did with
Digital
Fortress. All 145 pages are available from his web site in
PDF format,
in a single 450
kb
file.
