2AM is a South Korean four-member ballad boy band under JYP Entertainment. The members are Jinwoon, Jokwon, Seulong, and Changmin. 2AM is one of the two subgroups branched out from the eleven-member (before Jaebeom's departure) boy band One Day, the other being 2PM. They officially debuted on July 11, 2008 on KBS's Music Bank, performing their debut song "이 노래" (This Song). They won their first Mutizen at Inkigayo on February 7, 2010 with "죽어도 못 보내" ("Can't Let You Go Even If I Die") .

History

Predebut

Along with the members of 2PM, 2AM appeared on the documentary Hot Blood that was aired on Mnet, documented their rigorous training program of their pre-debut days. Changmin was the only member of One Day to not appear in the documentary because he was serving in the military at that time. Initially, Jinwoon was eliminated on Hot Blood, but he ended up in 2AM due to Daehun's withdrawal from JYPE. JoKwon trained for 2567 days, 10 days past 7 years after joining JYPE.

2AM's First Single Album

Mid-2008: Debut

2AM's first single "This Song" release July 21, 2008 and made their debut performance on July 11, 2008 performing their debut song "이 노래"("This Song")[1] .

Early-2009: 2nd Single Album

2AM made a comeback with another single album "Time For Confession" on March 19, 2009 with "친구의 고백" ("Confession Of A Friend") being the title track.

Early-2010: 1st Mini-Album

"Even If I Die I Can't Let You Go"

2AM made a comeback with a second album, "죽어도 못 보내" on January 21, 2010 with "죽어도 못 보내" ("Even If I Die I Can't Let You Go") as the promoted track. In the week before the release, JYP Entertainment released a total of five teasers on their Youtube account. Along with a group teaser, the individual shots were based on the seasons. On February 7, 2010, 2am won their first Mutizen award on Inkigayo since their debut. On February 25, 2010, their second win was on Mnet M!Countdown. They won a second Mutizen on their final day of promotions for "죽어도 못 보내" ("Even If I Die I Can't Let You Go") on March 7, 2010.[2]

"I Was Wrong"

2AM revealed on March 5th, 2010 through their official home page cuts of their new image. Jo Kwon, Changmin, Seulong, and Jinwoon respectively transformed as a club DJ, an ice hockey player, a biker, and a basketball player for their new 10 minute drama-music video. The repackaged mini-album will feature 4 additional songs, 3 from their first and second singles and one entirely new song titled "잘못했어" ("I Was Wrong"), which would be their promoted track. One representative stated, “The song we’re releasing is something that 2AM has never shown before and is a brand new type of music.[3] A portion of the song was revealed in the first episode of 2AM's new reality show "2AM DAY" on March 10th[4], where the members playfully sing along to it in their car. 4 teasers were released for each member from March 12 to March 14. A leaked version of Part 1 of the music video was released on March 15, having been recorded by camera at 2AM's subway showcase[5]. The album was released on March 18, 2010.

Changmin

  • Full Name: Lee Chang Min (이창민)
  • Birthdate: May 1, 1986 (1986-05-01) (age 23)[6]

Changmin was born in Tenafly, New Jersey. Changmin has finished his mandatory army service, the only idol to have entered the entertainment scene with a completed army service. In December 12, 2008, he featured in Mario's digital single "Superman". He and Jokwon released a digital single titled "졸업" ("Graduation") on February 5, 2009. He was absent from OneDay's predebut reality show "Hot Blood" because of having joined JYP after it was filmed. In December 2009, he contributed to the original soundtrack of drama series "돌멩이의 꿈" (" A Dream Comes True") with a solo single "삼키지마" ("Don't Swallow").

He is currently a DJ for "Starry Night Radio" with Girls' Generation's Sooyoung.

Seulong

  • Full Name: Im Seulong (임슬옹)
  • Birthdate: May 11, 1987 (1987-05-11) (age 22)[7]

He was part of "Dirty Eyed Girls" on an episode of 2PM's reality show "Wild Bunny", performing a parody of popular Brown Eyed Girls song Abracadabra with Jokwon. The music video became extremely popular. Seulong and Jinwoon make regular appearances as commentators for We Got Married Season II. He debuts as an actor in drama series "Personal Taste", the first episode airing March 31, 2010[8].

Jokwon

  • Full Name: Jo Kwon (조권)
  • Birthdate: August 28, 1989 (1989-08-28) (age 20)[9]

The leader of the group, Jokwon is the longest-serving trainee in JYP Entertainment, having trained for 2567 days. He was chosen as last members of Park Jin Young's 99% Challenge project along with Sunye of Wonder Girls.

He sang with Jinwoon in May Doni's "몰라-ing"(Molla-ing) and featured in W&Whale's song and music video "덩크슛" (Dunk Shoot). He was part of "Dirty Eyed Girls" on an episode of 2PM's reality show "Wild Bunny", performing a parody of popular Brown Eyed Girls song Abracadabra. The music video became extremely popular.

In September 2009, Jokwon was one of the main MCs for SBS's environmental variety show "Find it! Green Gold" with Super Junior member Shindong, SS501 member Kim Hyung Joon, and former Fly To The Sky member Brian Joo. He also replaced 2PM's Jaebeom on historical culture variety show Nodaji after his internet controversy. Both shows were canceled due to low ratings.

He joined the cast of We Got Married on October 3, 2009, coupled up with Brown Eyed Girls member Ga-in. Although they were initially only supposed to feature for the Chuseok special, their appearance brought in the highest ratings yet for Season II, and they were announced a permanent couple.

Jokwon was diagnosed with H1N1 on October 28, 2009, causing him to postpone filming We Got Married. The next day, a representative stated that Jokwon was recovering quickly after treatment.

He released a digital single "우리 사랑하게 됐어요" ("We Fell in Love") on December 16, 2009, a duet with his We Got Married partner Ga-in.[10], which topped variety online music charts, winning 2 awards on Music Bank's K-Charts and the "Most Popular Background Phone Music" on the Gaon Charts.[11] 50 million won from the profits of the song were donated to help out for Haiti's tragic earthquake[12].

He is a permanent member of Family Outing Season 2[13].

Jinwoon

  • Full Name: Jung Jinwoon (정진운)
  • Birthdate: May 2, 1991 (1991-05-02) (age 18)[14]

In January, 2009, Jinwoon was cast in MBC's reality show "Family Needed" Season III, also featuring NRG member Lee Sung-Jin and actors Choi Yangrak and Ricky Kim.

He starred in 8eight's music video "잘가요 내사랑" ("Goodbye My Love") with Kim So Eun and Jung Gyeo-Woon, as well as singing in May Doni's song "몰라-ing" ("Don't Know-ing") with Jokwon on January 15, 2009. Seulong and Jinwoon make regular appearances as commentators for We Got Married Season II.

In January 2010, Jinwoon was diagnosed with an early case of H1N1, but recovered quickly before the illness took effect[15]. He became part of "아이돌 막내반란시대" (Idol Maknae Rebellion) along with the other youngest members of fellow idol groups FT Island, U-Kiss, T-Max, Mighty Mouth and later MBLAQ. The first episode aired on November 7, 2009.

Jay Singh (Born March 31 1972 in Birmingham, UK), better known as 2AM is a music composer, record producer and International DJ. Other pseudonym’s Jay is known by are: 2AM Project, Episode 13, J2AM and J-Deep.

2AM is one of the hottest International DJ’s and producers today. He has remixed artist like Supafly, Amerie, Beyonce, Missy Elliot, Daddy Yankee, Kelly Rowland and Produced tracks for Kylie Minogue, LL Cool J, Usher, Britney Spears, Signature, Nicole Scherzinger and Pussycat Dolls.

Biography

Jay was introduced to music at the age of seven when he learnt to play the Tabla and Dhol. Coming from a musical background his grandfather and great grandfather were famous Tabla players and his father was one of the first pioneers of Bhangra music in the UK. Over the years he developed his musical skill by playing at school functions and wedding parties.

Jay graduated in 1996 with a BA Hons degree in Business from Brunel University. It was at university Jay brought his first record decks and he was given the opportunity to DJ at the student union weekly parties where he rocked the dance floor. Over the next few years he developed his DJ skill and Jay was given the opportunity to DJ at a number of premier fashion parties. This led to other gig including main stage at BBC’s Clothes Show Live, Chiffons Tours of Europe and India and various fashion shows for Gautier, D&G, Chanel, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein. Jays main focus was always to become a music producer so while DJing and working he did a music production course at the world famous SAE College in London before going on and setting up his recording studio in his West Ham, London. In 2002 was the year Jay got his big break by beating off 1000’s of DJ’s to win the world famous club Ministry Of Sounds DJ Idol Competition under his 2AM Project Moniker. That year he mixed various dance compilations for Ministry of Sound/Decadence including the Ibiza Classics Album. Over the next few years Jay DJed at some of the biggest club nights in the UK and Europe; Miss Moneypennys, Pacha, Ministry of Sound, Puscha, Gods Kitchen, Fuel, Shaanti, and played alongside superstar DJ’s like Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold, Smokin Jo, Danny Rampling, Jim Shaft Ryan. This was about the same time Jay gave up his day job to focus full time on his music and his life long ambition to be one of the next Super Music Producers.

Over the next 2 years Jay developed his sound that encompassed many genres such as Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Crunk, R&B, Electronic and Dance with elements of Indian and Arabic flavors. And others track with his 80’s vibe.

In 2004 following his trip to the USA he experienced the new sound that was exploding in the US called Reggaeton. On Jays return to the UK he started to develop this sound and took it to the next level. He was approached by various Record labels and pop acts to remix their music with this new sound. One act was Supafly V Fishbowl and they had one of the summers biggest dance smashes ‘Lets Get Down’. After Jay remixed this track it exposed him internationally as being one of the first pioneers to remix a dance track into a Reggaeton hit. Many remix’s followed including one of Europe’s biggest smashes ‘Chacarron’ where Jay brought in the UK's leading Reggaeton artist Kid Afrika to feature on the Remix. This led Jay to form the Twoam All-stars. Twoam All-stars are some of the hottest unsigned artist from the UK, Cuba, Spain, USA, Venezuela, Peru and Colombia. The collective consists of R&B singers, rappers and a sound encompassing, Hip Hop, Reggaeton and Dancehall with Indian and Arabic Elements. At the same time Jay was approached to work with an act called This Boy That Girl. Jay soon recognized their potential and signed them to a production deal too 2AM Productions to be released at a future date. In 2006 Jay also worked with Shaanti the UK’s leading Asian Club Night and Music Brand to produce tracks for their compilations. At the same time, he was approached by KPM and West One Music to producer tracks, and an Album for Film, TV Advertisers, Media and Radio Companies. Many of these tracks have since been used globally on documentaries, films, advertising campaigns, radio and by media companies.

Jay has been going from strength to strength and in 2007 was invited to the USA on a business trip to meet Elite Records, Jive, SonyBMG, Island DefJam, Violator Management and Bad Boy Music Publishing. On returning to the UK he has remixed International Artist’s like, Beyonce, Amerie, Kelly Rowland, Collie Buddz. And also produced new tracks for LL Cool J, Usher, Kylie Minoghe, Britney Spears, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Lopez and Pussycat Dolls. Jay also produced the first 2 singles ‘Get It In’ and ‘Treasure’ for the new male R&B group Signature, who are predicted to be the next big Urban Act in the USA.
