31st SS Volunteer Grenadier Division was formed in October 1944 from conscripted volksdeutsche (mainly from the Bačka region of Serbia) around a cadre from the disbanded Kama division.

It fought briefly against the Soviets in Hungary in November 1944 where it suffered heavy losses. After refitting, it saw action in Silesia during the final months of the war.

According to some sources this division was named Böhmen-Mähren while others claim that the name was Batschka.
