The 3918th Strategic Wing is an inactive United States Air Force unit. Its last assignment was with the Strategic Air Command, 7th Air Division, based at RAF Upper Heyford, England. Inactivated on 31 Mar 1965





  • Established as 3918th Strategic Wing on 1 February 1964
Activated on 1 February 1964 assuming the resources (Manpower, Equipment, Weapons, & Facilities) of 3918th Support Squadron (Activated 1 Jan 1959)
Wing in provisional status, controlled by: Strategic Air Command
Inactivated and disbanded on 31 March 1965.



  • 3918th Air Base Squadron
  • 3918th Combat Defense Squadron



A non-flying wing that provided host station support functions primarily for SAC B-47 Stratojet wing and support elements deployed to Upper Heyford during REFLEX deployments from United States bases. Inactivated in 1965 and replaced by 7514th Tactical Group. 7514th TG inactivated on 10 Jan 1966 when SAC turned over Upper Heyford to USAFE.
