The
3 Rivers
Ratsare an
Eastern Indoor Football
Leagueteam based in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They
will begin play in the 2007 season, as a member of the EIFL, which
is not affilitated with the
Arena Football Leagueor
Af2.
The Rats played their
first game on February 10, 2007 against the Mahoning Valley HitMen,
and the team is found to be no more of a pick-up team, as a Moohead
radio report found that players were from the Youngstown area and
no Pittsburgh-area people were involved.
The name "
3
Rivers" refers to the city of Pittsburgh's location at the
confluence of the
Alleghenyand
MonongahelaRivers
that forms the
Ohio
River.
The team left because of lack of insurance, and will
be seeking membership elsewhere for 2008.
Former captain, left
tackle PJ Masiello from Marlboro, NJ, is currently out for a year
with a knee injury and complications resulting from excess obesity.
Other notable players on the team's roster include place kicker
Ruben Severalmints (known affectionately by fans as "Turk" or "The
Thickness") who developed his kicking skills playing soccer on dirt
roads in Uzbekistan and running back Greg "Limpy" Lichtenthal who
was the league's leading rusher before sustaining a serious head
injury after a rival player threw a football at his forehead. Mike
"It's Miller Time" Miller, a highly tauted prospect at tight end,
left the EIFL after receiving an offer from Carlo's Pizza to be
their lead delivery analyst. Miller ultimately opted to attend law
school instead, a move he now desperately regrets. Later that year,
wide receiver Jeremy "The Jenkins" Black, joined the team after a
brief stint on America's Smartest Model. With no speed or stamina
to speak of, management believes he will bring about a resurgence
in ticket sales, especially among the ladies. Derv "The Donvito"
Kamil is a all-pro offensive lineman who joined the team after
years of training in his native Cyprus. He brings quick feet,
explosive power, and goat cheesed filled grape leaves to the team.
Dave O was drafted by the team after a brilliant collegiate career
in which he was First Team All Defense. He has been vocal in the
media lately, denying a supposed "supplement" buying and selling
scandal. Kevin "The Big Ragu" Levy was a late addition to the team,
replacing PJ Masiello at fullback. He's famous for his pregame
speeches, in game tenacity and post game tomfoolery. Side note: He
is the only player that gets his own room on road trips because all
the other players refuse to room with him, citing "lack of sleep".
Former child star Andrew Winkler brings his thuggish preppy swagger
to a team in need of an enforcer. Although he is only the
placeholder, his tattoos have become a league wide phenomenon and
have been featured in GQ.
Nick "The Popov" Poberezsky has been
the team's manager since its inception. He is best known for his
unorthodox European style of coaching, which the players seem to
respond to. He is also a big supporter of the Boy Scouts of
America, the Big Brother/Big Sister programs and DARE.
