The license for this hotel was originally held by T.J.
Higgins for the Bellevue Hotel (now Sackville Hotel) in Rozelle.
The license was transferred in 1881 and the pub originally known as the Red Lion Hotel after a nearby street.
In 1882, the name was changed to The Rose, Shamrock and Thistle Hotel thus leading to the local nickname "Three Weeds".
After a major refurbishment in 2004, the hotel reopened with the current name.
