The 4709th Air Defense Wing is an inactive United States Air Force organization. Its last assignment was with the 26th Air Division, being stationed at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey. It was inactivated on 1 October 1956

Operations

Activated February 1952, replacing 52d Fighter-Interceptor Wing, absorbing its assets (2d 5th FIS) and personnel.

Mission of wing was to train and maintain tactical flying units in state of readiness in order to defend Northeast United States. Inactivated and replaced by 4621st Air Defense Wing (SAGE).
