4x Records is a Chicago-based independent record label.

History

Founded during the spring of 1995 by entrepreneur Rock vocalist Bill Morton, he formed the label as he was managing and promoting his band. Known for his lead vocals in Instruments of Destruction, he used his music industry contacts to seek assistance in progressing the 4x label, and within a few months he was approached by Chicago label Fuse Records to sign his band. Mr. Morton quickly booked the Riviera Theatre for a showcase, but before he would perform (and after the non-refundable deposit for the venue), his band backed out leaving him with little chance of getting signed to Fuse. Mr. Morton decided to follow-up on his project anyway and sang a shortened version of the bands scheduled set accapella before the entire crowd. This experience set the tone for Mr. Morton's future projects, often choosing difficult paths in search of long term benefits, including his highly publicized, yet unsuccessful attempt to save the historically significant Adelphi Theater from demolition.

In 2005, 4x Records partnered with Cemetary Gates Promotions (Atlanta), Jenny Chartrand of Bone Records in 2006 and NL Promotions in early 2007. 4x Records then signed with Sound Riot Records and Mutilated Records as thier U.S. representatives.
