6WIND is a Paris, France-based company specialized in
networking embedded software for System On Chips.

6WIND is a spin-off of Thales and a co-founder of the IPv6 Forum with key expertise in embedded networking development of OpenSource for robust IP technologies.

The company's software product, the 6WINDGate(tm), is designed for multi-core Network Processors including Cavium Octeon and RMI XLR, SoC, IXP425, x86 and FreeScale.

It is based on Linux for the control plane modules, Simple Executive and RMIOS for the fast path, XML management, IPv4 and IPv6 stacks, IPsec, NAT-PT, mobility, OSPF, BGP, Virtual Network Blocks for L2TP, LNS or PPPoE servers, etc.

On multicore processors, the 6WINDGate(tm) Fast Path dataplane modules can provide more than 10Gbps of IP forwarding and IPsec. The main applications are telcos ATCA-based equipment, security appliances, SOHO and business gateways, defence and industrial control & command applications (M2M).

The company is also a Quagga co-founder and maintainer with the community.
