Seven Hour War
began in March 2006 and started like most Fan-Based Modifications.
The original members started to plan out the game, however after 6
to 8 months, little progress was made. Between Febuary 2008 and
July 2008, the Seven Hour War has gone under dramatic changes and
is moving in leaps and bounds in development. The introduction of
new members to the team, all fans of the Half-Life Series, has
vastly improved the speed of development.
Some features that
should be noted are that Seven will be utilising the Source 2007
engine to its limits using the new particle and lighting systems
provided by it. Seven will also have four difficulty settings,
easy, normal, hard and realistic (which will feature realistic
damage and iron sights). The mod will include many unique weapons
and drivable vehicles. The player is set as a British Soldier, who
plays an important role during the invasion of Earth by the Combine
during the
Seven Hour War.
Summary
The
Resonance Cascade Scenario at the
Black Mesa Research Facility heralded a dark age
for humanity. The portal storms that occured as a result of it
opened a gateway into the border world. The Xen portals that open
from the temporal rift caused countless millions of Xen creatures
to pour out onto Earth. The countryside was quickly overrun and
people flocked to the cities for refuge. The military is a
prominent force controlling hard points in order to keep out the
Xen hordes, but the attack wasn't an invasion, that was merely
coincidental. Something much worse is coming.
