9Nyne (9) is an independent Rapper, Songwriter, Producer, Singer and a Visual Artist based in Canada. He released an underground LP in fall of 2007 titled 'Urbanology' and released a four-track EP titled 'A Nerdy Session'. 9Nyne is currently working on his first original album which he said will be tittled 'The Attack'.

Personal Life

Gabriel Oluwaseun Akinrinmade Pronunciation:(Gabriel o-lu-wah-shay-oon Ah-kin-rin-ma-dey), born December 9, 1987 and raised in the suburbs of Lagos, Nigeria. He completed his first half of high school at Command Secondary School Kaduna, a Nigerian boarding school where he got the nickname '9Nyne' simply pronounced '9' his roll call number during at the school. In 2002, he transfered to Command Day Secondary School Abuja, where he originally lives with his family and had more time to associate with the hip hop culture. Inspired by a few Nas albums and many tracks produced by DJ Premier that were released around that time period, Gabriel joined a rap crew called 'The Flow Bustin' Individuals' (FBI). the 5th member of the group with the rapid fire technique, rapping fast on slow beats like twister. In 2004, Gabriel moved to Canada leaving the crew to continue his education and got his post-secondary diploma at The Bronte College of Canada and got accepted to The University of Winnipeg where he currently attends and majors in Theater & Film. 9nyne started mixing his art works with his music in 2007 and tagged both as 9nyne & the3RD explaining that 9nyne is his music side and he is adding it up to his other two talents which is making instrumentals and visual art (the 2nd and 3rd talents)
with his instrumentals influenced by Electronic Synth, soul, 70's and 80's pop, mixed with Hip Hop. That same year, 9Nyne was nominated by CBC Radio 3 for The Annual Bucky Awards in the category of "The Most Unpronounceable Band Name" followed by a few criticisms form voter and fans that the band name was not hard to pronounce that in fact, it was pretty simple. 9nyne did not win the award, but felt it was a honor to be nominated for an award on his first release and him not winning the category is a proof that his band name is pronounceable.

Influences

At the age of 10, 9nyne had already advanced his skills in visual art using pencils and have studied a few Nigerian visual artists and artifacts to improve his perspective about art. by 15, 9nyne had already started painting and sculpting. He became interested in music when he listened to Illmatic by Nas and other musicians and genre as he finds he easy to memorize any songs. He Love for music was not based on just one genre but all. On his profiles on a few websites he states that he favorite music is a "good Music". Over the years, 9nyne became more influenced by artist such as Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, DJ Premier, Masta Ace, Big L, N*E*R*D, Freddie Foxx, Gorillaz, Radioheads, Massive Attack, Linkin Park and Air. Mixing all this styles together to create a totally different idea of hip hop and creativity. In December of 2007 a few months after he released his underground LP 'Urbanology', 9nyne created a set of characters; Lady In Store, Little Boy, The Nerd and The Savior which he said, "will be used occasionally on future releases"

Recordings

9nyne started working on his first album in the summer of 2006 which he titled 9nyne's Urbanology and independently released in November of 2007. The release of this album have given him access to live performances and landed him on number #1 spot in s few local stations and podcasts as artist of the month and 3 time track of the day on 3 different podcasts leading to more radio stations and podcasts to seeking 9nyne's permission to play his tracks on air. 9Nyne started making his own beats and producing for local artists late 2006 and began work on his next release, 9nyne's A Nerdy Session which was released online April 15th 2008 where he introduced his characters; Little Boy: A Skateboarding male who is fashionable and has the talent of being good at anything he lays his hands on, The Lady In Store: A girl little boy had a crush on. She works at a CD store and introduced Little boy to Hip hop. The Nerd: "The villain of The Show" as he calls him is the antagonist of the setting bent on destroying the world as a revenge for how he was threated in high school and college. The Savior: The Protagonist. A cool middle class kid, turns out to be one of the cool kids that made the nerd miserable in high school and is now bent on stopping the nerd from taking revenge on the world. 9nyne recorded an entire mix tape in two studio session using instrumentals from his favorite bands and a few new ones he produced and named the mix tape "Live In 2D" explaining that the mix tape is a non professional recording. "It's like recording on a flat surface. Taking a beat and just recording to it. No Engineering, no mastering, less mixing" According to 9nyne. He plans on making the mix tape free to fans. In the mix tape, he announces the release of a sequel to the Live In 2D mix tape, Live In 3D and his album, The Attack with no release dates.

Art Works

9nyne specializes in Pencil works, Painting, Graffiti and, Graphic Design. Over the years he as done many works for the age of 10. in the early 90's, he focused on Still Life Drawings. In 2000 he started working more on his imaginative side creating characters and making up stories behind them. Influenced by the 80's, 70's, Japanese Animes and artists such as Takashi Murakami and No Pattern 9Nyne started working with graphic designs late 2006 and has quite an impressive Portfolio of very creative artworks. This artworks have been used as 9nyne's inspirations for his coming record releases. 9nyne designed all his album arts tagging his real name them and his other works.
