A.P.E.X is a 1994 sci-fi film by Phillip J. Roth about a group of scientists who explore the past using robotic probes known as the A.P.E.X or ˝Advanced Prototype EXploration units˝.
The film begins in the year 2073; Nicholas Sinclair, like his other time-travel researcher colleagues is dying from a virus. He returns via time warp to 1973 to bring back a defective robot probe. The trouble begins when his colleagues send a probe after him, but instead create a time paradox and an alternate timeline in which humanity is being wiped out by the said virus and is also waging an exterminating war against a never-ending supply of robots, in reality A.P.E.X extermination units which are being constantly sent to erase the said, paradoxical timeline.
