Shinas

A. M. Shinas, an academic by profession and a member of the Areepattamannil family, is a prolific writer in Malayalam on contemporary national and international issues. Born in Kozhikode in 1971, Shinas had his early education in Chennamangaloor, and college and professional education at Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) in Yerevan, Armenia and University of Calicut, Kozhikode, Kerala. He left Yerevan following the collapse of erstwhile Soviet Union.

Shinas loves to write. And write he does, in a way that many don't. He belongs to that genre of writers who have a fair knowledge of contemporary issues and uses it for writing mind boggling essays/articles. He belongs to that promising breed of young Indian writers who have, in the recent times, marched into unfamiliar territories, experimenting with varied genres of nonfiction with astonishing success.

Shinas is a Lecturer in History under the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala, and is employed at the Government College, Kalpetta, Wayanad.
