A. M. Shinas,
an academic by profession and a member of the
Areepattamannil family,
is a prolific writer in
Malayalam on contemporary national and
international issues. Born in
Kozhikode in 1971, Shinas had his early education
in
Chennamangaloor, and college and
professional education at
Yerevan State
Medical University (YSMU) in
Yerevan,
Armenia and
University of Calicut,
Kozhikode,
Kerala. He left
Yerevan following the
collapse of erstwhile
Soviet Union.
Shinas loves to write. And
write he does, in a way that many don't. He belongs to that genre
of writers who have a fair knowledge of contemporary issues and
uses it for writing mind boggling essays/articles. He belongs to
that promising breed of young Indian writers who have, in the
recent times, marched into unfamiliar territories, experimenting
with varied genres of nonfiction with astonishing success.
Shinas is a
Lecturer in
History under the Department of Collegiate
Education, Government of
Kerala, and is employed at the Government College,
Kalpetta,
Wayanad.
