American Kenpo Karate International (AKKI) was
founded by Paul Mills.
The AKKI is designed as a practical
system of
martial
arts based on the
Ed
Parker system of
American Kenpo. Their self-proclaimed purpose
is to "preserve Mr. Parker's art of American Kenpo, as well as to
continue to create . . . and innovate."
The system is often
referred to as "AKKI Kenpo" and was developed by Paul Mills, a long
time student and protege of the founder of American Kenpo,
Ed Parker. Starting
in 1966, Mills received his black belt from one of
Ed Parker's first generation
black belts. In 1980, he then became a direct and private student
of Ed Parker. Mills was promoted by Parker up through his fifth
degree black belt.
The AKKI association has over 175 schools and
clubs throughout the world including: the United States, England,
Channel Islands, Spain, France, Germany, Netherlands and more. The
AKKI is headquartered out of
Evanston, Wyoming and meets biannually for
an international members convention in
Las Vegas.
Paul Mills serves as President
of American Kenpo
Karate
International and currently holds the rank of 10th degree
black belt that organization. He
serves as Chairman of the AKKI's Board of Directors and presides as
Chief Examiner for all of the international tests. Paul Mills
currently lives in
Wyoming where he runs his own nightclub in addition
to his duties with the AKKI.
