According to Shiekh Aboobacker, The Educated should reflect the
light of intellectual power and the virtues of modern education.
To mould a new generation having social and religious commitment
is the only way to attain the independent aims of education.
Islamic Cultural Centre - In 1926, the farsighted and committed
Ulamas of Kerala formed an organization namely; Samastha Kerala
Jam’iyyathul Ulama, at a time when the Muslim community encountered
serious threats from a host of distracted members within. Markaz
is one of the largest Islamic Academia, which materialized what the
world had hitherto been thinking impossible. An ever-widening gap
had been prevailing between the religious Ulamas and the modern
educated genre, which seldom had any morale. The attitude of these
two classes was derisive and hostile to a great extent. But Markaz
succeeded in revamping the difference between them and brought them
under a single umbrella of Islamic unity so as to create an
atmosphere beneficial for the community. While concentrating on
true Islamic curricula Markaz promotes secular education as well.
Markaz, a shining star in the Islamic educational firmament,
nurtures more than 10,000 students.
…From the speeches of the
Chairman “Jamia Markazu-Ssaqafathi-Ssunniyya is an educational
and cultural centre of Kerala since 1978 and although we are one of
the few institutions of this kind, we attract and reach to students
from different parts and remote ends of the State of India. The
influence of Markaz reaches far beyond the barriers of communal and
social confines. The approach of Markaz strengthens the moral
character of the Muslim society and is welcomed by others too. It
strives to develop the leadership capacities of Ulamas and the
qualities of Muslim Ummah. Jamia Markaz directly influences the
cities, towns and even in the rural areas where these Ulamas reach.
Armed with renewed vigour and Islamic spirit, Markaz students
return to the society with a fresh wholeness, a new sense of
responsibility and practical skills to bring about a moral
revolution in the society. Jamia Markazu-Ssaqafathi-Ssunniyya
nurtures and matures individual’s spiritual growth with which
students find better ways to spread Islamic values. Beyond the
individual, it also strengthens the Muslims of India as a
community, through its diverse programmes of research, education
and social services. By studying and sharing information, it
enables the Muslim community to remain strong and independent. With
its priceless contributions to the society, the Jamia Markaz has
earned an international reputation as the place where, Muslims turn
to for religious and cultural assistance. Among the plethora of
learning, the theological faculty of Markaz teaches, trains,
supports and provides resources to religious leaders, students and
institutions. Students of various disciplines are competent enough
to lead similar sources. Jamia Markaz is a unique institution,
which makes a significant difference in our troubled world. Jamia
Markazu-Ssaqafathi-Ssunniyya is a place where people explore,
discover and define their education. Ultimately, out of this
fractured, despairing world can emerge a new community of peace,
productivity and hope.”
Family
Sheikh Aboobacker was born
in Kanthapuram, a village in the district of Calicut, Kerala on
22nd March, 1939.
He was raised in a family that possessed a
tradition of Islamic scholarship as well as righteousness. His
father was a teacher in the Holy Qur’an and a scholar of Islam who
dedicated his life to the teaching of Holy Qur'an & Hadith.

lot to get his learning discontinued in the absence of his father.
Thus the horizon of his knowledge extended to farther heights.
Education
He was an enthusiastic learner since his school
days which remains with him and he adapts quickly to any new piece
of knowledge. He started his primary education with A.M.L.P.
School Kanthapuram and continued the process of learning to higher
levels in both Islamic and modern education. The quest for
knowledge brought him to various Colleges all over India. He

the core texts of Hadith, (traditions of the Prophet, PBUH) Fiqh,
Interpretations of the holy Qur’an and other branches of religious
education by adhering to the circles of knowledge conducted by the
then great scholars.

Researches:
He has a research study of six
years in the Hadith to his credit and thousands of disciples in and
outside India, who bear the torch of their great teacher to the
coming generations. Sheikh Aboobacker started his Dars (teaching of
Islamic subjects) in Mangad Juma Masjid at the year of 1964. He
then turned to Kolikkal Juma Masjid (1970-1976) and to Kanthapuram
Juma Masjid (1976-1981). This place name is synonymous to him and
is a great crowd puller in India. The establishment of
Markazu-Ssaqafathi-Ssunniyya, the world famous Islamic Academy of
Education and Charity, in Karanthur, Calicut, Kerala, in the year
of 1978 was a milestone in his life. The service this Institution
imparts to the Indian Community is matchless. Since 1981 he is
serving as the principal of Markaz Sharee’ath College and General
Secretary of the Markaz.
Career:
After graduating from
Baqiyath, he joined as a Mudarris in an Islamic Institute, where he
literally began his career. He offered classes for the young and
the old in the local mosques where opportunities to memorize the
Qur’an and to study the Islamic Fiqh, History and traditional
sciences were being given.
