ATCsimulator® (air traffic control simulation) is a complete ARTS-IIIa and STARS simulation software for the Windows O/S (98 through XP).

ATCsimulator® has sold approximately 50,000 copies worldwide. ATCsimulator® contains simulated data covering over 120 TRACON (terminal radar approach control) facilities of the continental United States. The program also presents actual radar traffic that was captured from the FAA flight computer network using another program called Flight Explorer. ATCsimulator® was developed by Russell B. Davis during 2000. Data sources for navigation information used in the simulator came from organization such as NOAA, NAS and the FAA. Much of the data is derived from the ARINC 424-13 specification, which is used by commercial airlines and the military in the onboard Flight Management Computer Systems. Speech recognition is also supported for Microsoft Speech Application Programming Interface (SAPI) version 4.0a. ATCsimulator® was the first software of its kind to be released as a retail product with speech recognition support built-in. ATCsimulator® was developed using Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, the only simulation of its kind using that language.

ATCsimulator®2 can host a session and allow Microsoft Flight Simulator pilots to connect via the internet for air traffic services provided by the ATCsimulator®2 controller.

ATCsimulator® (Version 1.0) was first released on January 16, 2001. Originally sold and published by PC Aviator, Inc. The agreement between the author, Russell B. Davis and PC Aviator, Inc., ended on December 31, 2002. The initial release of ATCsimulator®2 was not until February, 2004. ATCsimulator®2 is used as a training tool at many schools and universities.

ATCsimulator®2 is continually developed, marketed and sold at the official website by Russell B. Davis and his company, aerostudios, Inc.

ATCsimulator is a registered trademark of Russell B. Davis.

As a side note, Russell B. Davis is a distant relative of Jefferson Davis, Confederate President. They are 2nd cousins, six times removed for you geneology buffs.
