The
AWA Brass Knuckles Championship was a short-lived
professional wrestling championship contested in the
American Wrestling
Association between
1979
and
1981.
As the title
suggests, in all Brass Knuckles Championship matches both wrestlers
would heavily tape their fists, thus giving the impression each
contestant is wearing brass knuckles. Most were fought with no
disqualification rules and it was legal to punch an opponent.
Reginald
"The Crusher" Lisowki was one of the many wrestlers who held
the title. AWA Superstars also had an "Unsanctioned" Brass Knuckles
Title won by Gino Martino. He defeated "The Ugandan Giant" Kamala
in a "King of the Jungle Death Match" on a MWF/AWA New England
show, Lynn "Massachusetts" on
24 September 2005. The title was defended in MWF/AWA New England and
in CWA/AWA of
Montreal,
Quebec, Canada. The title was abandoned in March
2006.
