AZ-802 often competes with other units in drill meets.
All of the military services have drill teams.
As well as executing standard drill commands, drill teams also perform exhibition drill in which they may perform intricate marching maneuvers.
One of the top schools during the era of MSgt Valdez, hosting several drill meets and winning numerous trophies.
In the 2006-2007 Drill Season, the first under the leadership of MSgt Stilchen the Unarmed 4 Man exebition team placed 1st.

Color Guard
The performance color guard has been in existence since the inception of Deer Valley High School.
The Color Guard carries the United States Flag, the Arizona flag, with two riflemen.
The Color Guard is an honorable position, carrying the National Colors.
The Color Guard marches at close interval (shoulder to shoulder) Impossible to execute to the rears or facing movements, due to the fact that the colors must always be on the right, instead a series of wheels is called.
The Color Guard may be requested to present the colors for the National Anthem at a basketball game, football game or other special activity the Color guard renders honors when the national anthem is played or sung, when passing in review during a parade, or in certain other circumstances.
In these cases, the unit and departmental flags salute by dipping (leaning the flag forward).
However, with the exception of a response to a naval salute, the United States national flag renders no salute.
This tradition comes from the 1908 Summer Olympics in London, where countries were asked to dip their flag to King Edward VII: the American team captain Martin Sheridan refused, famously proclaiming that "this flag dips to no earthly king."
