A Conservative Version (ACV) is the name of a Bible translation by Walter L. Porter. It is, as the name suggests, a very conservative translation. That is, it is a very literal translation, very much following formal equivalence translation principles.

The translator was a professor of psychology at Harding University for 24 years, and was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Arkansas, in 1932. He strongly opposes dynamic equivalence, as seen in the following quote from his website:

"Finally, a word of warning about modern English translations. Most of them (including the popular NIV) distort the original text of the Bible with many changes. The authors of those translations use the so-called "dynamic equivalent" method, which is simply a flattering euphemism for loose translating."
