A Seance of Intellect is a webcomic. The comic features many of the creator's friends, as well as some fictional and historical characters. The first comic appeared on June 21st, 2006 and nearly a hundred comics have been made to date. The comic's simplistic drawing style is not meant as the main focus of the comic, as the comic is predominantly dialogue driven.

The Comic Title

The comic's title seems often to be more ironic than literal. Characters are often doing silly things, or making mistakes, rather than doing 'intelligent' things. However, current events, politics, philosophy, physics, computers and technology are often issues that are being discussed in the comics.

Characters

Characters appearing in the comic are: Alishah (nicknamed Alish, Leash), Andy, Steve (Stevie), Alex, Kieran, Nicole, The Knight, Raphael, Ryan, Tessa, Billy.

Historical appearances are also made by: Shakespeare, Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci, Socrates, and Marie Curie. These appearances are often modernized versions of the characters, as though they are still alive. It is not necessarily made clear whether these characters exist in Alishah's imagination, or if they are physically present. The first appearance of historical characters was made in a dream, yet they regularly appear in what appears to be day to day life.

Alishah

Alishah, aka Alish, aka Leash is the main character of the comic. He is in almost every strip, and is known for making bad jokes, or being the butt of the joke. He is very much similar to Charlie Brown and regards himself as a failure at many things. He is also linked to some unknown strange events like the 'Nacho Incident' which was referred to mostly in earlier issues.

Andy

Andy, Alishah's sarcastic friend, is known for his quick witted and sarcastic replies. He regularly makes fun of Alishah, and does little else.

Steve

Steve, or Stevie, is a fan favourite. Mostly due to his Shakespearan/poetic manner of talking, Steve is one of the more emotional characters of the comic. The pawn on his shirt is meant to symbolize that we are all pawns in this world. He also seems to become evil when it becomes dark, and there has yet to be further elaboration on this.

Alex

Alex is the ladies' man of the comic. He is able to pick up any girl at any time without even trying to. He is also the quiet one, often not saying very much.

Kieran

Kieran is one of the friends who is similar to Alishah in terms of interests. However there are many ways in which he separates himself from Alishah, and uses those differences as way to poke fun.

Raphael

Raphael is Alishah's pet turtle. He wears a red bandana over his eyes like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles character Raphael. Raphael likes strange music, and seems to think all female characters are April O'Neal.

Billy

Billy is the youngest of cast members. He has trouble saying words with Rs and Ls. In his first appearance, Billy was lost began following Alishah around. Alishah was happy to find out Billy liked programming on his computer, but was annoyed when he found out what type of computer it was.
