Aaron Etherington is the current chair for the
Danville, KY City Commission.
He is also the head of the Social Studies department and best known for his
American Studies class, which he shares with insignificant English teacher, Shari Stewart.
Etherington is also a Mayoral candidate in the 2008 election.
Aaron Gerald Etherington was born in
Waterville, Maine in 1976 to Brenda and Larry Etherington.
He spent much of his youth attending schools through the Waterville Public School district.
He graduated as Valedictorian from
Waterville Senior High School in 1995.
During his youth, Etherington was playing at nearby
Kennebec River with several peers and was pushed into the ice-covered
tundra and then fell beneath the ice into the freezing water.
He was eventually rescued by Floppy, a hormone-raging turtle.
A mock
parade was then held in Floppy's "honor".
This odd parade then became a tradition, due largely in part to the tourist attraction it became.
Etherington attended
Lexington Community College from 1995-1999.
He became well-known for his basketball ability along with his expertise at the martial arts.
Etherington earned the record for most career points by the time he was a junior.
At one point in his sophomore year, NBA recruits attempted to sign him to a four-year contract with the
Spurs, but Etherington reportedly refused, claiming that, "he sure aint keen to play no ball fo cash."
Etherington's conduct, however, did not hold up as well in college as it had in high school.
He was involved in several instances as a part of the fraternity he was President of, Delta Kappa Pi.
One of these nearly resulted in his dismissal from LCC, as Etherington took part in welcoming
Delta Kappa Pi was disbanded from LCC in 1999, just prior to Etherington's graduation.
While attending LCC, Etherington married Crystal Etherington, a celebrated
banker.
Etherington has been a member of the Danville City Commision since January 2004.
He is up for election in 2008 as the Danville mayor.
However, his reelection is pending as Etherington was involved in a tax fraud-related scandal, one which still remains unresolved as further investigation is pending.
Etherington's favorite color is red and in his spare time he enjoys
basketball,
television, reading classics,
Euclidean geometry, and
knitting caps for young babies.
His favorite television show is
America's Next Top Model and he claims he has no interest in music.
