The Aasal soundtrack was composed by Bharathwaj for the Tamil action film of the same name directed by Saran. It marked the fifth time Bharathwaj had scored an Ajith Kumar film. The lyrics are penned by Saran's usual associate, Vairamuthu. The soundtrack album contains 7 tracks and was released on 4 January 2010.

The audio distribution rights were given to ANAK Audio.[1] Think Music, an association of Sathyam Cinemas and Hungama Technology.[2]
Before the official soundtrack's release on 4 January 2010, a track titled "Kanava Neinaiva" was leaked onto the internet. Later the track was announced to be an unofficial track.[citation needed]
Asal’s audio was launched at a simple gathering at Sivaji Ganesan’s house in T Nagar, Chennai.[3] Those present at the launch were the film’s lead star Ajith, his wife Shalini, director Saran and music director Bharadwaj. Also present were Sivaji’s sons Ram Kumar and Prabhu, along with their family. The press was also invited to this event.
The audio was launched by one of the producers, Prabhu, and was received by Ajith.[3] Vairamuthu’s lyrics were set to music by Bharadwaj and Y-Kinz.
