First appearance 1 January 2007
Last appearance 8 October 2008
Profile
Occupation Plumber

Roger Stiles, played by actor Andrew Dunn, is a plumber who goes round to fix Janice Battersby's heating in 2007 when her boiler breaks down. After a couple of "dates" in the Rovers Return Inn, he invites Janice to go to France with him for three months and she accepts. Janice returns alone in March and he returns two months later. In 2007, he invests £10,000 in Janice's stepdaughter Leanne's restaurant. Janice and Roger begin living together because Roger is struggling to pay his rent, due to his loan to Leanne (which she eventually pays back). He saves the Barlows' kitchen roof when it is leaking in May 2008 and strikes up a friendship with Ken.

In early August 2008, he, Janice, Bill Webster and Audrey Roberts all embark on a booze cruise to France together, which ends in a minor car accident and whiplash for Roger.

It was announced in September 2008 that Roger would be leaving the soap the following month.[1]

In October 2008, Roger finds out about Janice's Lottery scam after she is arrested by the police. Angry and ashamed that she has done such a thing, he packs up his van and leaves her.

Jodie Morton

Jodie Morton
Coronation Street
Portrayed by Samantha Seager
Duration 2007
First appearance 29 January 2007
Last appearance 11 November 2007
Profile
Residence London

Jodie Morton is played by Samantha Seager. Jodie is the new owner of Diggory Compton's old bakery, along with her father Jerry. Jodie and her grandfather, Wilf, arrive on Coronation Street, in January 2007, to ask Charlie Stubbs why the re-fit on the bakery is taking so long. She later finds out he has been murdered, and asks Jason Grimshaw to continue with the re-fit. She also calls Dev Alahan "cheesey" when he attempts to flirt with her. Jodie enjoys recurring brawls with rival chippie worker, Cilla Battersby-Brown. Cilla states that Jodie has the body of her father, Jerry Morton, and the face of 'Jabba The Hut'. Cilla also calls an exterminator and lies that "Jerry's Kebabs" is infested with rats. Jodie then retaliates by calling Cilla a liar. As part of the ongoing feud, Jodie takes Chesney's dog Schmeichel and keeps him in the family's garden shed later letting him go. Jodie has a brief romance with Lloyd Mullaney. On July 14, 2007, it was announced that she was to leave Coronation Street. She leaves the Street on 11 November 2007, after feeling that father Jerry had taken her for granted too many times and goes to stay with a friend in London.[2]

Wilf Morton

Wilf Morton
Coronation Street
Portrayed by Rodney Litchfield
First appearance 29 January 2007
Last appearance 5 October 2007
Profile

Wilfred "Wilf" Morton arrives on Coronation Street with his granddaughter, Jodie. He calls Dev Alahan "chief", which Dev takes to be a racist comment. However, Jodie explains that Wilf is not good with names and that this is simply his method of addressing people informally. Wilf is an ex-jailbird with an extensive criminal record, mostly off the back of his tendency to take part in a quick scam - a trait that many members of his family have inherited. On discovering granddaughter Mel's plans to join the police, he claims it is like "being stabbed". However, despite his former misdemeanours, Wilf does hold his family dear; realising that his past record may affect Mel (or "Melanie", as he insists on calling her) and her application to join the Police Force, Wilf "fakes" his death on Father's Day, 2007, submitting a false obituary to the Weatherfield Gazette. This action leads to Blanche Hunt and Deirdre Barlow believing he is, indeed, dead - with the former arranging her own wake (despite still being very much alive) as a result. Wilf's intentions towards Blanche are not yet known; while the two often bicker, Blanche is genuinely shocked when she believes Wilf to be dead, and Wilf has made several flirtatious comments towards her. Although he appears to live with his son and grandchildren, Wilf's appearances suddenly cease and is not referred to when his family leave the Street in September 2008.

Wiki Dankowska

Wiki Dankowska
Coronation Street
Portrayed by Wanda Opalinska
Duration 2007-2009
First appearance 26 February 2007
Last appearance 6 February 2009
Profile

Wiki Dankowska (Polish pronunciation: [ˈviki daŋˈkɔfska] About this sound (English) ), played by Wanda Opalinska, made her first appearance on 26 February 2007 as a new employee of Carla Connor at the Underworld factory. As a Polish immigrant, she was paid less than other employees, and they became concerned that their pay would be affected by this. She was bullied by Joanne Jackson and Janice Battersby, but Hayley Cropper secured her equal pay for her from Liam Connor. She is the only factory worker to have seen Kasia Barowicz fall and die in the factory during an illegal shift. Paul, Carla and Liam covered up Kasia's death until 8:00am the following morning, when the death would be covered by their insurance. Wiki went along with this when Carla told her that if they didn't do this, Kasia's family would get no compensation money. Wiki has a son back home in Poland, aged 21, and she worked in Underworld to support him.

She then started her own business selling underwear. In early 2008, Wiki spotted Kelly Crabtree stealing rejected underwear from Underworld to sell at her own knicker party, and Wiki was torn between telling Carla or keeping it secret. She was soon accused of stealing them herself but Kelly stepped forward to take the blame. She rarely is seen getting angry, but when Janice Battersby returned to work, having been arrested for fraud, after it was discovered she had kept the winnings that had been meant for the Lottery syndicate she was a part of for herself, Wiki was very angry with her and declared that it would be a long time before their friendship could be repaired.

On 25 December 2008, she spent Christmas with Emily Bishop, Norris Cole and Mary Taylor, where she cooked them a traditional Polish dinner. Though they weren't impressed she didn't notice and got merry.

On 6 February 2009 right after Tony Gordon confessed to Carla that he killed Liam Connor, Wiki interrupted them to say that she was going back to Poland, to look after her ill mother.

Kasia Barowicz

Portrayed by Irena Rodic
First appearance 26 February 2007
Last appearance 16 April 2007
Profile
Occupation Seamstress

Kasia Barowicz arrived in 2007 as a Polish worker at the Underworld factory - their second Polish employee following Wiki.

On the morning of 16 April 2007, she was involved in an accident whilst working illegally for Carla Connor in the factory. She tripped whilst carrying a stack of boxes and fell down a flight of stairs, dying from the injuries she sustained. Carla panicked at the thought that her business plans would be scuppered and didn't phone for an ambulance. Instead she phoned her husband Paul who hurried to the factory.

Paul, Carla and Paul's brother Liam all lied to the police about what time Kasia died. They knew that the police would ask questions if they called the ambulance immediately. As Kasia was working out of hours after doing two shifts, they were breaking the law. Liam even clocked Kasia in at eight o'clock (the time that her legal shift was due to begin) in an attempt to avoid further questions.

That morning, Sally Webster, came in for material for daughter Rosie's school play costume. Sally grew suspicious and knew something didn't add up.

After this, Liz continues to play around with Derek and eventually sleeps with him for the first time after he books a hotel room for them both.
