ABLEMP is the conjunction of two words ‘able’ and ‘empowerment’.
ABLEMP, Able Empowerment Day is an annual program of Saransh, which is an attempt to provide a common platform to streamline the differently abled individuals/children in to the mainstream.
It is through this program that we try to identify their hidden talents, channelize those potentialities and appreciate and encourage them to realize what lies latent within them.
ABLEMP - Able Empowerment Day 2007
The main objective of ABLEMP is to make the differently abled understand that, “they should not be hindrances for themselves”.
Saransh, a registered charitable organization, in association with YI (CII) and Intel conducted
ABLEMP on December 1st at the Intel Campus, Outer Ring Road, Sarjapur.
ABLEMP was a flagship event -our first step towards enabling the special children (differently abled children) in Karnataka.
ABLEMP was a successful event, with more than 300 children from different special schools participating in it.
The event had 3 different competitions, a Painting Competition, an Essay Writing Competition and a Quiz competition to bring out their talents.
Participants were given the freedom to express themselves with the help of colours and words and the outcome was beautiful paintings and brilliant Essays which spoke for them.
The Quiz was a lot more fun for the children with our volunteers making them laugh and enjoy it.
The first prize for Painting, Essay Writing and Quiz Competition was won by Suresh N from KHWA (Karnataka Handicapped Welfare Association), Malamma from Samarthanam and Sadiq from APD (The Association of People with Disability).
All the first prize winners were given a (Waterfall Laptop – 2 yr old IBM T40)Laptop, by Intel Technologies.
Saransh believes that we are all disabled in one way or the other.
So disability is not in the body but in the mind.
Every individual has the capability to contribute to the society in his/her own different ways and be an asset to our nation.
The only thing they need is the realization which can be done through proper guidance.
We realize that proper guidance and training should start from childhood onwards so that by the time they reach the age of 14years they are ready to face the world and capable of taking their own decisions
We at Saransh believe that our responsibility towards the differently abled should not be limited within some ‘days’.
So we have come up with the idea of organizing various programmes every month for them.
These programs will be based on learning and should be informative which will shape up their overall personality.
