The Acadian Coast is a name sometimes applied to the section of Louisiana along the Mississippi River settled by the exiled Acadians beginning in 1764. While applying particularly to the present Saint James Parish, the term is sometimes used to designate the Acadian settlements just up the Mississippi in Ascension Parish.
The Acadian Coast (French: la Côte Acadienne) covers the eastern coast of New Brunswick.
The people of the Acadian Coast region speak French as their first language, however many Acadians (particularly those south of the Miramichi Bay and Bathurst,Gloucester County regions ) can speak fluent English.
