Acanthocarpus is a genus of plants in the commelinids clade. It has been difficult to place at family rank, being placed at various times in Dasypogonaceae and Asparagaceae. The most recent study into the systematics of the Asparagales placed Acanthocarpus in Laxmanniaceae.[1]
