Three Frenchships attacked the BritishbattleshipHMS Centurion and an East Indiaman which were
in an anchorage in the East. Despite the inexplicable behaviour of
the British merchantman, which refused to retreat, even when
repeatedly ordered to, the French retreated due to the good
fighting put up by Centurion.
