Adam Freeman (born 1980) is a presenter on minor satellite and digital shopping TV channels.
He currently works for
HSN.
Biography
Freeman was born in 1980 in
Leeds,
England.
He gained a Business Management degree from
Durham University, and then moved to
London to pursue his show-biz ambitions.
In 1996, 236,000 people voted for him as TV HITS
"Face of the Year".
In 2001 at the age of 21, after sending his audition tape to various TV organisations, he began to work as a TV auctioneer on
Bid tv in September, presenting live on air five times a week.
In
January 2002 he began presenting for
Sky Travel, in both recorded as well as a new live travel program.
In early 2004 Freeman left Bid tv to join rival shopping channel
Auction World.tv.
But in
November 2004, the channel was closed down by
OFCOM due to massive financial difficulties, non delivery of over £80,000 of paid orders, thousands of customer complaints and several fraud allegations plus 2 investigations by
BBC TV programme 'Watch Dog' their flagship consumer show.
'Watch Dog' also dedicated a 30 minute episode to the masive catalogue of complaints ultimately leading to the largest fine (at that piont in time) handed out by the regulator
OFCOM to a shopping channel in the
UK.
In early 2005, after the collapse of Auction World, Freeman and Andy Sheldon, were recruited along with other ex employees to create
iBuy.
The channel was to try in vane to emulate the success of other dynamically priced shopping channels but it saldy followed quickly in
Auction World footsteps.
Adam Freeman was installed as the channel's Head of Presentation, and worked five days a week on air presenting whilst the operation sadly floundered from day one.
On
18 March,
2007, Freeman revealed on air that it was to be his final shift.
It was revealed, that unlike many of the other staff at iBuy, he wasn't out of a job.
Like the previous iBuy Head of Broadcasting, Andy Sheldon, Freeman will in fact be moving over to parent company HSN for employment in
America.
Whilst all of the other staff were left unemployed yet again.
Freeman made his first appearance on
HSN in July 2007, but in the same week serious speculation has circulated throughout the industry that
HSN are suffering from a serious down turn in sales.
Many industry insiders understand that
HSN are seroiusly considering winding up their
US operation within the next six months to a year.
Alternatively that they will have to remove their
UK management team including Freeman and Sheldon who are being held directly responsible for this decline in sales.
