Adastreia are a six-piece band hailing from Essex in the UK, who combines the genres of progressive metal and symphonic metal or as they prefer to term it atmospheric metal. They follow in the general vein of established groups such as Nightwish and Within Temptation, whilst drawing on a wide spectrum of influences. Their music is typically characterised by performances in which dark and heavy rock and metal instrumentation and backing vocals are combined with, and counterpointed by, classically oriented feminine lead vocals provided by Alexandra Martin.

The band takes its name from a Greek goddess - the inescapable dispenser of punishment and retribution in ancient mythology.

Formed in 2004, Adastreia have already appeared on Terrorizer magazine's unsigned bands showcase cover CD, and scored equal fourth in Best Unsigned Band in the same magazine's 2005 End of Year Readers Polls. The band recorded a self-distributed 4-track demo EP recorded at the now defunct Studio Adelaide in Ongar, Essex entitled Emersi in July 2005 which was followed up by the Masked single in March 2006, but remain unsigned at present.

In June 2007 the band again teamed up with producer Grant Mitchell (Studio Adelaide) and entered the new Shack Studios near Chelmsford, Essex to record their first full-length album 'That Which Lies Within'. The album is currently being mixed and mastered by John Biscomb of local Death-Metal band Dead Beyond Buried and is due for an imminent release.
