Addickted.net began life back in August 2005 as the lovechild of
Daniel Bream, where it provided breaking news regarding Charlton
Athletic Football Club along with views and opinions from a few
supporters running the site.
During the summer of 2006, with the
World Cup over and no football to entertain us; we decided to
develop the addickted.net site so that it could offer a centralised
“place” for all Charlton fans to use, enjoy and most importantly
contribute.
Many Charlton fans have their own blogs, which are
enjoyed by many and the vision was to extend this even further in
order to get a complete Charlton Fan Community Website up and
running. A site/portal, which would be the first of it’s kind for
supporters of Charlton Athletic.
From news reporters and
columnists all writing about their own views and experiences, to
fans taking photos during match build ups in the pubs or whilst on
their travels to the away fixtures, the site has it all.
The
main goal was to offer this content and the chance to contribute in
any relevant area to as many Charlton supporters as possible, of
all ages and walks of life, in order to a achieve a wide range of
views, opinions and rants about our beloved club.
Discussion is
an important element of the community, hence the Forums increasing
numbers. These are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year! – so
supporters can post match rants straight after any game, or have a
chat about anything else (as normally proved by Lig’s off topic
remarks) Comments can be left and discussed at your hearts
content.
Along with this, the site also has extensive
information for fans home or away, such as photo galleries, player
of the month voting, directions, pub guides, match reports, squad
profiles, player statistics, injuries, transfers and more.
With
away fans in mind, Addickted.net builds a rapport with all other
rival fanzine sites, by giving questionnaires to the respective
teams who Charlton face next in the fixture list, to carry the
tradition of Charlton as a “friendly” club – and is a unique trait
to posses.
Charlton Athletic is an innovative football club and
with the help of BreamTeam, who have developed and built this great
concept, like the club Adickted.net works together to provide the
ultimate centralised source for everything
Charlton!
Addickted.net is the first Charlton site to allow
members to download the Valiant desktop tool. Valiant is the site
mascot and also the free desktop alerts system solely designed to
deliver everything Charlton, directly to you computer.
Valiant, solely designed to run via the Feed Me Charlton website,
it cleverly harvests Charlton Athletic FC information, gossip and
most importantly fan opinions and blogs and deliver it directly to
your computer! Also, as well as appearing on your computer it also
creates a forum topic on the very same subject instantly.
With
nearly 300 member is under four months, the site is rapidly
growing, in November 2006 Addickted.net opened an online shop with
Charlton related merchandise design and created by the admin team
and even members suggestions were taken on board and used as
designs. The shop is strictly non- profit and all proceeds go to
the charity Demelza Children’s hospice. Addickted.net recently
announced plans to run a matchday chatroom for members and plans to
be open by the end of January/beginning of February,
