Addict Clothing Co is an
UK based clothing company in
Southampton, Hampshire founded in
1994 with influences sighted right back to the early days of football casual and trainer culture in the 80’s through to UK
dance music culture and the emergence of early
streetwear labels from the US in the nineties to technical outdoors clothing today.
Company history
What initially started with 1 logo, 4 tee shirt prints and a dream in 1994 of creating a British
Streetwear brand that could stand shoulder to shoulder with its US counterparts has slowly but surely become reality over the last 10 years.
Addict with its direct approach has built its reputation on solid foundations through the consistent production of clean, minimally branded, functional men's and women's clothing with fine attention to detail attracting the support of some of the finest stores across the Uk and the continent.
Addict remains an independently designer owned and led company producing all its clothing designs and patterns in-house, focusing on product development, letting the brand evolve naturally rather than bending to fit in with the whims of fashion.
Influential Designers
Outside assistance comes from a handful of the UK’s most prominent designers,
typographers and artists, Swifty, She One, Mitch and C-Law are all regular contributors and have supplied the brands past and present bespoke printed patterns as well as graphics for tees.
One of the brands premiere Addict pieces is the fully technical C-Law Jacket, a 3-way Brit-hit collaboration between Addict, C-Law and Lewis Sterling (a groundbreaking UK label from back in the day), a truly unique jacket that affirms the brands commitment to producing real product that has aesthetic and function combined.
Since the summer of 2004 the artist series of boxed tees regularly features the works of Swifty, Mode 2, Mitch, Will Barras, Guy Featherstone, Steff and Ben Swift and has spurned spin off collectors sets such as last winters’
Syd Mead Series a set of 4 tees featuring definitive illustrations by the extraordinary talent that is
Syd Mead, the ‘visual futurist’ and concept artist responsible for the iconic designs of cult movies like
Tron and
Blade Runner.
In 2008, their lightweight outerwear carries two brand new all over patterns, Rose Camo, combining the artistic skills of US based Tatoo artist BJ Betts with long time Addict contributor C-Law resulting in an natural print with dark undertones.
The second print comes courtesy of English brand ONETrueSaxon with a re-working of their fence reed design.
The Method Zip Hoody™ remains a dominant force in the Addict line; already copied by some of the largest worldwide brands who should know better, this style has become the staple backbone of every Addict collection.
