Adoor is a town near Pandalam in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala state, India. The town is located midway between Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam.

It is believed that the name Adoor is derived from "attipperu avakaasam ulla ooru". Vanjipuzha Chief (Land Lord from Chengannur) got the "attipperu avakasam" (full ownership without tax) from the Maharaja of Travancore.
The main attraction of Adoor is the famous Krishna temple Sree Parthasarathy Temple taking the centre stage in the town. The temple is dedicated to Lord Sree Krishna, known here in the name of Parthasarathy. It is one of the oldest Krishna temple in kerala. Gajamela, the elephant pageant on the concluding day of annual festival at the temple is the main highlight of the 10 day festival celebrations. Trichenda Mangalam Mahadeva Temple Peringanad, Mahavishnu temple Elamannoor, Sreedharma Sastha temple Chennampallil, Sreenarayanapuram Temple Manakala etc are the other temples of importance in this region. The famous Chandanapally Valiyapally Church is located 10 km away from Adoor. Chembuduppu (meaning picking of copper vessel) is a special ritual that has a place in Kerala’s cultural history, which take place in chandanapally every year. Kannamkode St.Thomas Orthodox Cathedral, Kannamkode Marthoma Church Vellakulangara etc are the other churches of importance in this redion.
Mannadi Temple, which is known for Mudiyettam,and the place which has got historical importance due to the Sacrifice of the Great Soldier, Travancore Diwan Veluthampy Dalava, who fought the British Raj, till his last breath, is just 8 km from Adoor.
Maramadi Malsaram(Bull Race) is a famous event that is held at Anandapally, which is only a few kilometres away from Adoor. This is a spirited Annual event which attracts national and international visitors. The event which takes place right after the harvest is aimed at promoting the spirit of farmers.
As of 2001 India census,[1] Adoor had a population of 28,943. Males constitute 48% of the population and females 52%. Adoor has an average literacy rate of 85%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 49% of the males and 51% of females literate. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
