Adrian Allen is a radio presenter, who is well-known for his previous work at LBC 97.3 a talk based radio station. He was born in Sunderland on 27 January 1962 in the North-East region of England and has broadcast on various stations in Great Britain.

Career

He originally made the transition to speech radio at TFM Radio in England's North-East Teesside, taking over after James Stannage had earlier appeared on TFM. James who himself returned to a long-term slot at Manchester's Piccadilly radio stations. Allen's 11 week foray into speech radio came after 10 years of being a music presenter.

In no particular order as yet, Adrian Allen has also presented across regional radio stations Century FM(1997 - 2000)Century106(1998 - 2000)and Real Radio (from 2000 to 2002) Heart106 LBC Liberty963am - London, local stations Rock FM( 1990 - 1991) ( 1993 - 1996 as Head of Music) WearFM HallmFM AireFM CityFM and BRMB, Buzz FM in Birmingham (as programme controller), Liberty Radio in London (as a music DJ and programme controller/ Head of Music) and Wear FM in Sunderland, BBC local radio stations in Newcastle (1990) (2004 - 2006), Cumbria and Teeside BBC Radio Cleveland.

From 2 January 2007, Allen joined London's LBC 97.3 FM, in his trademark late-night slot. Allen has previously filled in for Marcus Churchill who was, until 5 July 2005, on leave for gallbladder trouble and LBC is the latest stop in a 11 year career of speech, and before that music, radio. Adrian officially left LBC as of 23 May 2007.If he hadn't left LBC one listener in particular would have told him what to do with his reiki box.

On 8 July he returned to the East Midlands to present for LBC's sister station Heart 106, where he had worked when it was called Century 106. He was the host of the station's late show from Sundays to Thursdays, 10.00pm to 1.00am. He left Heart106 on 5 February 2008, to be replaced by a networked show. Adrian is a Master/ Teacher of the spiritual healing art of Reiki, and on his website www.adrianallen.com has a "Reiki Box", where visitors to his website can appeal to have distance Reiki healing applied for no charge. He is also a martial artist, studying the art of Ninjutsu.

Scandals

Allen's radio programmes are not without controversy. He has had complaints against him upheld after being accused of racism, homophobia and sexism [1].

On 24 April 2007 Allen encouraged listeners to his LBC show to edit Wikipedia entries for comedy value. Some listeners did call the show to explain how childish this was, and pointed out that Wikipedia needs to be a reliable source of information.
