Major General Adrian John Bradshaw CB OBE (born 1958) is the current General Officer Commanding 1st (UK) Armoured Division.

Career

Educated at Reading University, Adrian Bradshaw was commissioned into the 14th/20th King's Hussars in 1980.[1] In 1994 he became Commanding Officer of the King's Royal Hussars: he then went on to command the Kings Royal Hussars Battlegroup in Bosnia.[2]

On promotion to Brigadier he became Senior Advisor to the Combined Forces Air Component Command preparing for the invasion of Iraq.[3]

He was Deputy Commander of Task Force West during the invasion of Iraq in March 2003 and took charge of 7th Armoured Brigade during initial stabilisation operations in April 2003.[2] By 2006 he was Director of Special Forces.[4]

In March 2009 he was appointed General Officer Commanding 1st (UK) Armoured Division[2] which undertook a major training exercise in the Czech Republic in May 2009.[5]

He is Vice-Chairman of the Combined Services Polo Association.[6]

He was awarded the OBE in 1998,[7] the US Legion of Merit in 2003[8] and the CB in the New Year Honours List 2009.[9]

He is married to Sally and has three children.[2]
