Adriano da Gama Kury (born
April 25,
1924) is a
Brazilian philologist.
He is the son of
Lebanese immigrant Elias Kury and
Brazilian Maria Celecina da Gama Kury. Has two brothers and one
sister. Born in Sena Madureira,
Acre, Brazil, where he had primary education.
Later moved to
Santos,
SP and then
to
Rio de
Janeiro,
RJ. Graduated in "Letras Neolatinas"
in the Faculdade Nacional de Filosofia.
Lived in
Brasília,
DF from 1965 to 1970.
Lived in
São Paulo,
SP from 1970 to 1972.
Lives in
Botafogo,
Rio de
Janeiro,
RJ since July 1972. Married in 1961
to Wilna Brilhante Kury, has a son, two daughters, two grandsons
and one granddaughter.
Worked as a professor in different
universities and as a researcher in the Fundação Casa de Rui
Barbosa (Rio de Janeiro).
Member of the Academia Brasileira de
Filologia.
